It is a compact fiber-optic receiver for transmitting HDMI video signals with embedded audio over long fiber-optic distances. Designed for exceptional high-definition images, the receiver uses Extron's all-digital technology for mathematically lossless transmission of 4K/30 images over a fiber optic cable. Designed specifically for AV systems, low-profile chassis can be installed inconspicuously.

It supports singlemode fiber at 1310 nm and enables very long transmission distances. Single-mode fiber can be used in very large facilities such as airports and stadiums, as well as to provide connectivity over very long distances, such as between buildings in a university. Because content sent over fiber is secure from outside access, applications using fiber are especially popular in government, military, and medical settings. The receiver has connections for industry-standard SC/FC connectors.
